I've been lagging this week. I've been ill with a head cold since Tuesday & had a math (Boooooooooooooooooooo!) test on Thursday that's kept me fairly busy. I'll see how I did on Tuesday. The semester is quickly coming to an end. It just started, right?
I've really got nothing to report. Bad Religion, for those who care, was AMAZING. I was nervous before which I'm always nervous before a show. I don't know what that's all about. I would say Bad Religion is definitely/ safely in my Top 10 bands if not Top 5. I'm gonna have to give that some thought & get back to you. I felt like I was back in 11th grade singing along. They just bring back so many memories. Only downside, they didn't play Stranger Than Fiction & kill the strobe lights. I had a migraine on the trip home. The opener also killed it, Off with Their Heads.
Lastly, I got mail (Yes, real mail.) from Oakland or Lafayette, California to be exact. I don't know any one in either of those towns. Turns out, it was from Yvonne Prinz. I signed up for her mailing list after I read Vinyl Princess. She's also one of the owners of one of my favorite places in the world, Amoeba Music. She's got a new book coming out, All You Get is Me. I think I'm gonna send her thank you card for her wonderful stores that I'm lucky enuff to go to every year. Thanks, Lin.
I'm off to see what I can find to do in Logan. I know nothing, but it's worth a try.
I'll leave you with...
Just discovered today. Good stuff. Helps even more with two hot babes in leather jackets all Ramones style. Got my heart all twitter-pated.

See you in the future...
Almost forgot...
Dear House in Sandy, Utah,
It's November 13th for damns sake. Please don't turn your Christmas lights on till after Thanksgiving, or the dozen eggs in my car may be headed your way.
(First, I hope you're all reading this at work. It's meant to kill some time for you. If not, start.)
So, I'm sure many of you are wondering about my little admission on my last post. I'm sure my Mom keeled over right on the spot. I'm surprised Bernie didn't call to tell me they were on their way to the hospital. I've never actually admitted as much to her. My policy has always been if you don't ask, I won't tell. So, if you want to know anything about me, ask. Simple, but very effective. More in a few seconds...
Let's talk about the new candy bar the Thingamajig...
It's the awesome new cousin of the Whatchamacallit. It's got CoCo Pebbles & peanut butter. I'll be honest; my first bite wasn't magic, but the more I ate, the more I liked. A LOT. If you know anything about my tastes, I LUV the combo of Peanut Butter & Chocolate. I once ODed on peanut butter cups. True Story. Ask my roommate. It's "Limited Edition". I guess I'll pick one up at Quick Stop every time I need my Dr. Pepper fix before class.
I bought a new pair of shoes for my trip in December...
I like a lot. I've been coveting them for some time now since last year, but didn't have the scratch to pull the trigger. My trip is coming up. 5 weeks tomorrow. It's gonna fly; so, I can fly.
I'll start you out with a picture from my new favorite book/ score from the DI...
Hey, baby...
This would definitely would be my profile pic on FB if I was on there..
From First Date to Chosen Mate... I know what I'll be passing on if I have kids. Except, I'll leave them a note. That's the only thing missing from this is a nice note from my Aunt Judy outlining this is the way to "Find my chosen mate." while pursuing my MRS at Ricks. It was written before I was born, 1977. The bio is hilarious. Listing his church calling which to be honest aren't that impressive. You'd think at least stake president, not ward clerk. I'm not belittling any calling. I don't have one, & don't need one. Also, it says "He's married to the former..." I hope my wife doesn't want to forget her maiden name. I hope she never feels like her former self.
Anyway, I've made you laugh; I hope. Onto the girl. It's a crush, really. I don't know what else to call it. She was in my Anthropology class last spring semester. We kinda talked then on the first day. I made a lame joke while we were being grouped into discussion groups. Sadly, she wasn't in my group. (Me Group 17; her Group 18) She was even in my singles ward for a few weeks before I was asked to go to my home ward or the 31-45 ward. I've seen her a couple of times at the basketball games & even before the homecoming football game. We've made eye contact multiple times. I think that's a good thing. I don't know. I'm really bad at all this. It's something I'd like to pursue though. I wish I knew someone that knew her. Sadly, the wardies from my singles ward aren't friendly or they're not there any more. (Too old. In the same boat.) Any advice? This really isn't something that From First Date to Chosen Mate discusses.
I'm excited for this weekend. I get to see a band I haven 't seen fully live (Yes, Warped Tour, but is that really a concert. I get 8 songs & no encore.) since 1996 on the Grey Race Tour. It's... Bad Religion. I've been a fan for some time. (6th Grade, 1990-91) My bro Spencer had a copied tape of Recipe for Hate. (Sharing a room had some profits, & that was one.) Bernice didn't like my punk rock ways, but that didn't stop me. In fact, after the show in 1996, at church, Chris Huber (Yes, of Aggie Basketball fame.) asked what I did the night before. I said I went to a concert. He asked which one & I said Bad Religion. My Mom again almost keeled over on the third pew from the front in the tabernacle. "What? You said you were going to a concert." "I did," I pointed out. "I thought it was one over in Logan." She never clarified that. "Nope." I even saved my lunch money to buy a t-shirt. I never saw that shirt after the first time I put in the laundry. Now at 31 almost 32 (It's coming up. Hint Hint) Bernice can't throw my t-shirt away when I put in the laundry. (True Story.)
First, I'd like to thank my friend/ niece Norah for making me smile lots since Tuesday. She told her mom, "Mama, I want to go to Disneyland with Uncle Tom and his glasses." Soon my friend, very soon. Actually, 6 weeks from today. I know I'm counting the days; I hope Norah is as well.
Norah & I outside the Monster's Inc. ride last year.
Nothing too spectacular has happened this last week. The highlight may be shaving the beard, although most of you have seen those pics. Um...
Friday, on a whim, I went to SLC to visit my brother Dave. He was lucky enough to have some art displayed at a blacklight party. Sadly, no pictures. I'm still missing my camera, but visit his etsy store, search Styer, Geek-lee-tistore. Very cool Star Wars pin-ups. I've got C3PO, & it's awesome.
Saturday, I rushed home from SLC to do homework. (BOOOOOOOOOOO!) On the way, I stopped at Target. (Time to jump on my soapbox. WHY the HELL Logan doesn't have a Target is beyond me. We've got 2 effin Wal-Marts. I know I'd probably switch my shopping style to shop exclusively at Target, groceries et al. Come on world, bring me a Target.) After, I met up with Niki & Doug at, where else, the DI. Found some cool stuff. I won't say what, but if asked, I'll tell. It's surprise for some one's Christmas. I went to the men's basketball game up on campus. If you've ever been to a game, you need to come. Unreal. It makes me happy to finally be a student at Utah State. Even happier that basketball is in full swing. Watch out for the Aggies.
Sunday, I went to the women's soccer game. I got to watch lovely ladies run around in short shorts. AND they were playing my second favorite school (I'd definately go there if I had the cash.) the University of Hawaii. I own fine amount of UH stuff thanks to Bernie & Bernice living on the island for a few years. I started to well up at the game as I was listening to "Pounding" by Doves. It's a great song. In fact...
Why did I begin to cry? Well, it was an Aggie soccer match that I realized I was a student last year. This year was/ has been a tough one at times. Still is to be honest, but I now have a job. It affords me the chance to visit my friends, go to concerts, buy records, go to school, & many, many more things. Just listening to this song & thinking about who I've become as a person make me appreciate everything & everyone a lot more. Be grateful for the things you all have.
Monday, I shaved the beard as you can see. (One previous post.)
Tuesday, Math class... (BOOOOOOOOOOO!) I got my test back, & did better than last time. What that means to you? I won't be joining the FB forces anytime soon. Sorry. You like the blog better anyway. Right?
Wednesday, nothing.
So to leave you, I've discovered these people covering a favorite band of mine, Kid Dynamite. I'd share them, but most wouldn't like, but I really enjoy these version.
If Laura or Andy see this (people above), I'll be at Amoeba 6 weeks from tomorrow.
I was lucky to see Kid Dynamite in Logan around 1999 or 2000. I wish I could see them now.
Another cover to leave you...
This girl is amazing. She has more than 50 videos of her singing some pretty great songs. Check her out. I'm a sucker for a girl singing. Keep it up.
The Beard had to go today. I'd like to thank it for the warmth & coolness it provided. But, when you wake me up, that's the last straw. I'm sure you'll make another appearance before too long. Keep your chin up.
